Should You Throw Away These Documents?
May 17th, 2008 | By Wise Snob | Category: Sustainable Living
From receipts to bank statements to pay stubs, how on earth do we keep track of these things? And do we need to? We either end up throwing away documents we should keep, or we have boxes and boxes of paperwork in the garage that are just a mess. Here’s a quick fix to what you should keep and for how long.
One Year Your paid utility bills, bank statements, medical payments, and simple pay stubs (without 401K deductions and other tax implications) should be placed in a box all it’s own, and shred at the end of each year. I just use an old shoe box.
Seven Years Credit card statements with tax implications (such as charity items, mortgage, etc.), mortgage payments, and pay stubs with tax implications. Again, these I put in a different shoe box based on the year, and I label and store them at year’s end. So seven years later, I can shred them. Let’s say that I just started working, so this is my first shoe box to keep till 2015.
Keep Forever Your will, birth certificate, marriage license, and life insurance policy.
As Long As You’ve Got It Home loans, insurance records, deeds, large purchases. Hmm… I wonder if that includes my purses?

hello guys
I whole heartedly love the layout of theconscioussnob.com. Looks good, keep it up!
anyways..
Im a very “devoted” christian and I guess I have a few questions on my mind..
I’ve been thinking a lot about dating.. but im not sure where to get going.
My brothers have been telling me christian dating is the way to go.. so I’ve done a little research on Christian Singles Sites and found some stuff on google
Would be sweet to hear your input.
Hi, thanks for your comments! While your comment on this post is not specific to the article, I’d love to give you some input. We are not relationship experts, but I can say that, depending on your age, websites such as eharmony.com allows you to meet other Christian singles. Also, being active in your local church and bible studies also allow you to meet and get to know the people in your community or college. Good luck and keep reading The Conscious Snob!
You know, my friend just recently got on eharmony and met this guy that she likes alot! Maybe it’s because they match people up by their interest, hobbies and what they do, etc. If you are curious, just give it a try. There’s a reason why these dating sites are becoming more popular. Gluck!
I would like to say that i love your blog theconscioussnob.com a lot
now.. back on topic hehe
I cant say that i agree with what you wrote… care to explain more?
