Have Fun with your Scarves
Oct 8th, 2008 | By Style Snob | Category: Conscious FashionI am the first to say how much I love Hermes scarves. Individually designed and handrolled, these silk scarves ooze glamour and excitement for any wardrobe. While Hermes tops our list of best brands, there are a ton of different scarves you can get, even in vintage shops, that you can throw on to instantly add personality to your outfit. Whether a dress, a business suit, or jeans and a tee, the trick is to have fun and be creative. There are a ton of options to utilize that piece of fabric, and here are a few.
Belt Fold the scarf into a long rectangle and wrap around your waist, then secure with a knot at the back. You can even accent this look with a skinny belt along the center of the scarf. Another way to wear the scarf as a belt is to loop it through the belt loops of your pants, and tie a knot at the side for an instant cool.
Top There are quite a few ways to wear a large scarf as a top. The most simple way is to fold the scarf halfway into a triangle and just wrap it over your body, tying it in the back. To make it into a halter top, you have several ways. A pinched halter top is incredibly easy. Just pinch the center of the scarf on the side you don’t want showing and tie a knot. This leaves you with four drapey corners that you can wrap two around your neck as the halter part and the remaining two around your waist, knotted at the back. It does leave your back pretty exposed, so you can always wear a tank top underneath for added coverage or just throw on a fitted blazer.
Classic Knot You can’t go wrong with the classic knot. Just fold the scarf into a basic fold and tie it around your neck once. Let is hang in the middle or side. You can even tie it so the ends are uneven and let it sit casually across your shoulders.
Classic Ascot Folding the scarf into a basic fold, wrap the scarf around your neck twice and tying a knot on the side of your neck.
Classic Drape You can also just fold the scarf into a basic fold and drape it over your neck or under your jacket. Just make sure it’s not too windy outside because this is the most unsecure way to wear this scarf.
Don’t forget to accessorize. There are many different scarf rings that you can use to help accent your scarf outfit. Use one to hold your scarf in place instead of tying a knot, or add the ring to the scarf and tie a knot as well to make an intricate design that will bring compliments to you.
Remember, just have fun. There are tons of creative ways to make your scarves work for you that are easy. Just be adventurous, and wear them with confidence! If you have any further ideas or suggestions to wearing scarves, please let us know!
